Entitled “Revolution”, Ironfest 2007 will take place at the Lithgow Showground, Lithgow, over the weekend of April 28 & 29, 2007.

An arts festival with a metal edge, Ironfest is an annual high profile regional cultural heritage event that celebrates working and playing with metal, and combines art with history, engineering and technology.

Ironfest comprises of art exhibitions, stalls, live musical acts, street performance, historical re-enactment, educational and historical exhibits, technological displays, art making workshops, blacksmithing demonstrations and competitions, busking competitions, automotive exhibitions, machinery exhibitions, circus acts and competitions, video exhibitions, youth and multicultural events.


The blacksmithing demonstrations & competitions, the coin smelting demonstrations as well as the knife-making workshops, conducted by Alex Schribener, a blacksmith from Rylstone, have been particularly popular events at Ironfest. Active ImageIronfest attracted a great detail of international attention in 2006 with the involvement of Jousters from New Zealand participating in the St George’s Day Australasian World Jousting Tournament.

In 2007, this looks set to continue, with Jousters coming from the USA, Canada and the United Kingdom to participate in the second annual St George’s Day Australasian World Jousting Tournament, to be held over two days.

Other participants set to come from the United Kingdom in 2007 will include at least 7 members of the British historical re-enactment group, the 71st Highland Light Infantry, who will be participating in the annual colonial battle re-enactment, The Battle of Lithgow.
